Just as we derived it from the previous section, various Lactobacillus strains represented by Lactobacillus rhamnosus [23], Lactobacillus jensenii [24], Lactobacillus reuteri [17], Lactobacillus casei [25], and Lactobacillus plantrum [26], downregulated the production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and otherwise in the inflamed tissues of colitis mice.
