We selected to study the ten most prevalent TP53 missense mutations found in breast cancer patients (Supplementary Fig. 1a), among which four mutations (R248Q, R248W, R273C, and R273H) occur at residues that contact DNA (DNA contact mutations, hereafter), and the remaining six mutations (G245S, H179R, R175H, Y163C, Y220C, and Y234C) affect the overall structure of the DBD (structural mutants, hereafter). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and breast carcinoma.
