In a comparative analysis at baseline, the absolute counts of CD4+ T cells were as follows: 1353 (±377) cells/μL in only DM vs. 956 (±288.3) cells/μL in controls, p < 0.01; 1353 (±377) cells/μL in only DM vs. 501.7 (216.4) cells/μL in only TB, p < 0.005; and, finally, 1353 (±377) cells/ul in only DM vs. 418.5 (±178.2) cells/μL in TB-DM, p < 0.005 (Figure 2a). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and diabetes mellitus.
