In the Caucasian cohort, eight complement proteins were found to be significantly lower in the POAG group compared to cataract subjects: C3 (FC = 0.82, p = 0.038), plasma protease C1 inhibitor (SERPING1) (FC = 0.83, p = 0.015), complement factor I (CFI) (FC = 0.77, p = 0.007), CLU (FC = 0.77, p = 0.021), complement factor H-related protein 1 (CFHR1) (FC = 0.48, p = 0.002), C8G (FC = 0.67, p = 0.004), C6 (FC = 0.63, p = 0.002), and CFH (FC = 0.57, p = 0.003). Here, CFHR1 is linked to open-angle glaucoma.
