It has been strongly suggested that various complications of prematurity may affect NT-proBNP levels, namely hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (HsPDA), pulmonary hypertension, BPD, retinopathy of prematurity, inflammation, sepsis and possibly necrotizing enterocolitis and intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) [26].
