Lymphatic transport activity was impaired in mice with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, but this was avoided by administration of recombinant vascular endothelial growth factor C (rVEGFC) while improving liver inflammation, suggesting that drugs with lymphangiotropic properties may be a new treatment strategy for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis [13]. Here, VEGFC is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
