IL6 and psoriasis: Even though a recent study demonstrated that P2X7R was not essential for the development of imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis-like inflammation [136], P2X7R-dependent control of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and IL-6, both elements involved in the development of psoriatic lesions [137,138], suggests P2X7R activity could have implications for the pathogenesis and potential treatment of psoriasis (Figure 1).
