It is known that the CST IVB microbiome type in the non-pregnant state is associated with a clinical picture of bacterial vaginosis, including higher pH, increased production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin IL-6 and IL-8, and human papillomavirus (HPV) progression [13,28,35,37]. Here, CXCL8 is linked to bacterial vaginosis.
