INS and steatosis: Administration of anthocyanin-rich extract of açaí to C57BL/6J obese high-fat-fed mice reduced body weight and lipid accumulation in adipose tissue, improved lipid metabolism, reduced liver damage and steatosis, improved liver function, glucose intolerance, glucose and insulin levels, HOMA-IR index, and reduced lipogenesis-related genes expression. It changed OTU abundance clustering of gut microbiota, decreased the abundance of Firmicutes and Proteobacteria, and increased the abundance of Verrucomicrobia and Akkermansia muciniphila in the feces.
