Importantly, a significant association between plasma sEPCR levels and the ankle-brachial index, measured only in PAD stage II patients and contraindicated in PAD stage III/IV patients, was observed (r2 = 0.2339; p = 0.0359; Figure 1D), and plasma sEPCR were also significantly associated with the age (r2 = 0.0515; p = 0.0488; Figure 1E) and the BMI (r2 = 0.0842; p = 0.110; Figure 1F), but not with the protein C activity (r2 = 0.0085; p = 0.5203; Figure 1G) or the ADAM17 levels (r2 = 0.0120; p = 0.2945; Figure 1H) in plasma. Here, ADAM17 is linked to peripheral arterial disease.
