In 2011, GWAS and consortia-based studies performed in the UK, the US and Europe described 45 genes involved in CAD pathogenesis, including SORT1, MIA3, WDR12, PCSK9, CDKN2A, CDKN2B, MRAS, ANRIL, PHACTRI1, PTPN11, ATXN2, CXCL12, SL5A3, SH2BS, LDLR, KCNE2 and MRPS6 [6].
