In 2022, a study explored the underlying mechanism of LA-induced ferroptosis in vitro and eventually confirmed that LA treatment activated NRF2/HO-1 signaling pathway (upregulation of the expression of NRF2 and its downstream molecule HO-1), which enhanced ROS-induced ferroptosis in BC cells due to the dual effects of HO-1. This evidence concerns the gene NFE2L2 and breast cancer.
