Indeed, during the acute stage of COVID-19, both cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) [2,15,16] and plasma studies [2,17,18,19,20] showed higher levels of neurofilament light chain (NfL) in patients with neurological symptoms (NS) which are correlated with disease activity, thus further supporting the occurrence of concomitant acute axonal injury. Here, NEFL is linked to COVID-19.
