It was found that the use of MC led to a decrease in the level of the main pro-inflammatory cytokines, involved in the pathogenesis of ACD, IL-2, TNF-α and GM-CSF, with a sharp increase in the main anti-inflammatory cytokines, IL-10 and IL-4, which may indicate the ability of MC components to enhance the anti-inflammatory response in ACD. The gene discussed is CSF2; the disease is granular corneal dystrophy type II.
