Inhibitory receptors programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and T-cell immunoglobin domain and mucin domain protein 3 (TIM3) were highly expressed in similar proportions of aging and young effector memory T cells, reflecting a typical exhausted phenotype of TILs, and suggesting that these pathways are not responsible for the difference in tumor development. The gene discussed is HAVCR2; the disease is neoplasm.
