Genetic variations in MYO9B are associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis (UC) in certain populations19–21, and a role of this gene in increasing susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has also been reported, suggesting that polymorphisms at this chromosomal locus might contribute to different autoimmune diseases22. This evidence concerns the gene MYO9B and inflammatory bowel disease.
