Compared with the matched group, patients with new-onset NAFLD often lacked regular physical activity; had a higher prevalence of hypertension; more frequently had overweight and obesity; had higher mean (SD) waist circumference and levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol, hypersensitive C-reactive protein, and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and lower mean (SD) levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and total bilirubin.
