One study transduced the human natural killer cell line NK-92 to stably express VHH-based chimeric antigen receptors (VHH-CARs) specific for CD38 and as such developed anti-CD38 VHH-CAR NK-92 cells which exhibited promising efficacy for killing multiple myeloma cells in primary human bone marrow samples (91) (Figure 3). The gene discussed is CD38; the disease is plasma cell myeloma.
