The histology of pancreatic islets in the mice protected from diabetes development (those co-transferred with each of the e-B cell subsets expressing 2.5HIP/I-Ag7construct) showed that CD4+ T-cell and B-cell infiltration still occurred, but as peri-insulitis, and the islet-β cells still maintained the production of insulin (Figure 9).
