As reported in previous studies, interleukin-6 (IL-6), the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels have been determined to be the most representative parameters of SARS-CoV-2 infection; these findings have been repeatedly demonstrated in studies conducted in COVID-19 patients (6–8). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is COVID-19.
