In this study, we observe that knockdown of BRG1 inhibits phosphorylation and activation of Smad2 and Smad3, while overexpression BRG1 phosphorylates and activates both of Smad2 and Smad3 (Fig. 3), suggesting that BRG1 promotes peritoneal fibrosis, can be, at least in part, attributed to activation of the TGF-β1-Smad2/3 pathway.
