ORF9b in SARS-CoV-2 may modulate IFN together with apoptosis signaling through the interaction with translocase of the outer membrane 70 (TOM70).49 A previous study indicated that TOM70 is related to mitochondrial antiviral signaling (MAVS) protein activation, finally causing apoptosis in the case of viral infection.50,51 Recently, as discovered by Gordon et al.49, ORF9b targeted TOM70 to inhibit the MAVS signaling downstream. This evidence concerns the gene TOMM70 and viral infectious disease.
