According to research findings, immunization of rabbits or rats with Tamm-Horsfall protein or megalin induced an AIN [21], which suggested that these proteins might play a pathogenic role as endogenous antigens in the development of AIN, and other endogenous antigens, such as tubulointerstitial nephritis antigen, implicated in AIN had been identified as components of TBM [22]. This evidence concerns the gene LRP2 and meningeal tuberculosis.
