IL6 and infection: However, there are distinct differences in pulmonary macrophage, dendritic cell and eosinophil recruitment between the two infections, and divergent inflammatory environments; with A. fumigatus infection typified by a predominantly type 3 response characterised by high levels of IL-6, IL-17 and IL-23 and early granuloma formation but high mortality; and A. nidulans infection demonstrating a mixed inflammatory response with elements of type 1, type 2 and type 3 responses, delayed granuloma formation and reduced mortality despite significant pathology.
