Whereas ATF4 and CHOP enhance defense against redox disturbance and reactive oxygen species (ROS) (Rouschop et al. 2013; Harding et al. 2003; Baker et al. 2012; Melber and Haynes 2018; Shpilka and Haynes 2018; Loinard et al. 2012). In agreement with these findings, PERK and ATF4 have been shown to protect glioblastoma cells from radiotherapy and hypoxia-related oxidative damage (Mujcic et al. 2013; Mudassar et al. 2020).
