To date, several indicators of inflammation or nutritional status in the peripheral blood, such as albumin, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR), are thought to be useful prognostic biomarkers for gastric cancer, pharyngeal cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, and esophageal cancer (22–26). The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is esophageal cancer.
