ACTA2 and cancer: In addition to these validated genes, it is noteworthy that among the 852 hypomethylated and downregulated genes identified in CTC-MCC-41, we also found genes involved in pathways relevant to cancer metastasis, such as Wnt signaling (e.g., FZD5, LEF1, ACTA2, ARRB1), the cadherin pathway (e.g., CDH3, LYN, PCDHA1, PCDHA4, PCDHA5, PCDHA7, PCDHA12), inflammation (e.g., IKBKB, GNG4, CASK) or angiogenesis (e.g., DLL1, LPXN).
