More recently, a study on severe multisystem inflammatory (MIS-C) syndrome, a hyperinflammatory syndrome associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, revealed that carrying HLA-A*01-B*35-C*04 haplotype promotes a profound expansion of the TCRβ variable gene 11–2 (TRBV11-2), which drives the cytokine storm in MIS-C [49]. This evidence concerns the gene HLA-A and COVID-19–associated multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.
