In addition to chronic inflammation, NAFLD also belongs to the category of chronic inflammation, where chronic inflammation of the organism causes, for example, imbalance of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), increase in tumor necrosis factor-alpha, alteration of vitamin D metabolism [32, 33], and alteration of osteopontin, osteoprotegerin, osteocalcin, and fetuin-A [30]. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
