The data revealed that the combination of curcumin and taurine achieved a synergistic effect in reducing the malignant transformation in HCC-induced rat liver, as well as reducing the serum levels of interleukin-2 (IL-2), interferon-gamma (IFN- γ), alpha fetoprotein (AFP), and alpha-fucosidase (AFU) rather than using curcumin or taurine alone. This evidence concerns the gene AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma.
