In line with previous studies that show RB loss is synthetic lethal with PARP inhibition in osteosarcoma cells (Velez-Cruz et al, 2016; Jiang et al, 2020; Zoumpoulidou et al, 2021), we find that these assaults to genomic integrity correspond with reduced proliferation and increased cell death both in contexts where RB is experimentally depleted, and in cancer cells where the RB1 gene is deleted. The gene discussed is PARP1; the disease is cancer.
