Even a 50% cost-reduction in cystatin C measurement would still add an additional 2.3 billion dollars annually to the cost of CKD screening in order to obtain slightly poorer GFR estimate that gives the same expected result as 2009 CKD-EPI eGFR for both Blacks and non-Blacks (both estimating the same mGFR [16]) without offending racial sensitivities.
