While it is known that the incidence of both IDH-mutant gliomas and GBM is higher in males than in females at an approximate ratio of 1.3:1 (27), especially older males appear to be even more prone to gliomas of the mesial temporal lobe: in our series, the male-to-female ratio was 3.3:1, and it increased to 9:1 in patients older than 50 years. The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
