A study in melanoma revealed that the activation of PPAR‐γ is involved in the melanoma cell invasiveness through regulating thioredoxin‐interacting protein (TXNIP), integrin alpha‐v/beta‐3 and the tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMP)‐2, all of which promoted the progression of metastasis in melanoma cancer (Figure 2B).58 The gene discussed is TIMP2; the disease is melanoma.
