In the context of the current state of knowledge on impact of retinoids on human breast adenocarcinoma, we demonstrated by Raman imaging that retinoids regulate the redox status of cytochrome c in cancer cells. We showed that Raman imaging is effective assay for detecting redox status of cytochrome c in specific cell organelles upon incubation with retinoic acid, retinol and retinyl palmitate. This evidence concerns the gene CYCS and breast adenocarcinoma.
