Golgi staining of brain tissues showed that high myopia modeling increased the spine density of both apical and basal dendrites of BLA pyramidal neurons and decreased the spine density of both apical and basal dendrites of ventral hippocampus neurons compared with the controls, all of which were partially reversed by Ccl2-deficiency (Fig. 5c, d), corroborating the role for CCL2 in anxiety-related neuronal changes.
