SIRT2 and depressive disorder: In this scenario, there are several studies demonstrating that SIRT2 pharmacological inhibition provides beneficial effects in different animal models of aging (Diaz-Perdigon et al. 2020), depression (Guclu et al. 2022; Muñoz-Cobo et al. 2017; Erburu et al. 2017), Huntington ́s (Luthi-Carter et al. 2010; Chopra et al. 2012), Parkinson's (Esteves et al. 2019; Sun et al. 2018; de Oliveira et al. 2017) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) (Bai et al. 2022; Wang et al. 2020; Biella et al. 2016), pointing out the potential role of SIRT2 as a therapeutic target for these neurodegenerative diseases.
