On the other hand, several studies suggest that SIRT2 is deleterious promoting neurodegeneration and have shown that its pharmacological inhibition provides beneficial effects in different neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases such as depression, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and AD (for a review, see Sola-Sevilla et al. 2020; Sola-Sevilla and Puerta 2024). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT2 and juvenile Huntington disease.
