LRRK2 and Crohn disease: Furthermore, LRRK2 has been associated with inflammation through links to Dectin-1 (also known as CLEC7A) signalling, which is known to play a role in innate immunity against fungal infections (Drummond et al., 2011; Takagawa et al., 2018), and inflammasome activation (Liu et al., 2017), as well as diseases that are thought to be caused by immune dysregulation, such as leprosy and Crohn's disease (Shutinoski et al., 2019).
