Another critical protein, protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (PRMT1), has been shown to mediate asymmetric dimethylation of histone H4 arginine 3 (H4R3me2a), which recruits SWI/SNF-related, matrix-associated, actin-dependent regulator of chromatin, subfamily A, member 4 (Smarca4), an ATPase subunit in the chromatin remodeling complex SWI/SNF, to enhance epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling, thereby promoting the proliferation and migration of CRC cells [74].
