The underlying etiology of CDI includes tumors (such as germinomas, craniopharyngiomas, and large pituitary adenomas, whether functional or not), infiltrative diseases (such as Langerhans cell histiocytosis), autoimmune diseases, neurosurgery, trauma, malformations, and, in rare cases, genetic defects in AVP synthesis [2–5]. This evidence concerns the gene AVP and clostridium difficile infection.
