Osimertinib is a third-generation, irreversible, oral epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor that was evaluated in the FLAURA trial compared to standard EGFR–TKI, gefitinib or erlotinib, leading to FDA approval of osimertinib in April 2018 as a first-line treatment for NSCLC (Tatineni et al. 2023). This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
