In cardiac myosin-immunized experimental autoimmune myocarditis mice, activated extrathymic T lymphocytes expressed high levels of LFA-1 and IL-2R (Interleukin 2 receptor) beta-chains while inducing differentiated CD4-CD8- T cell movement to the sites of the cardiac lesion (Hanawa et al., 1993). Here, CD4 is linked to autoimmune myocarditis.
