In cardiac myosin-immunized experimental autoimmune myocarditis mice, activated extrathymic T lymphocytes expressed high levels of LFA-1 (Lymphocyte function-associated antigen 1) and IL-2R beta-chains while inducing differentiated CD4-CD8- T cell movement to the sites of the cardiac lesion (Hanawa et al., 1993). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and autoimmune myocarditis.
