In this study, we investigated the response of different breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, and T-47D) to ribitol and other selected drugs that target crucial metabolic enzymes of central carbon metabolism such as chrysin (succinate dehydrogenase), CB-839 (glutaminase), GSK2837808A (lactate dehydrogenase), lonidamine (hexokinase), JQ1 (lactate dehydrogenase), and shikonin (pyruvate kinase) and the effect of their combination on cancer cell growth and invasion as well as mechanism of action. The gene discussed is GLS; the disease is breast cancer.
