Philadelphia-negative MPNs, including polycythemia vera (PV), primary myelofibrosis (PMF), and essential thrombocythemia (ET), are a heterogeneous group of hematopoietic stem cell diseases characterized by monoclonal feature and activated Janus kinase/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK/STAT) signaling, which results in chronic inflammation, the expansion of neoplastic clones, and the development of BM fibrosis [47]. Here, SOAT1 is linked to acquired polycythemia vera.
