IFNG and Behcet disease: Moreover, transplantation of faecal matter from Behçet’s syndrome patients with ocular inflammation to experimental autoimmune uveitis mice resulted in disease exacerbation, intestinal epithelial barrier damage (as measured by increased LPS in the circulation), increased expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-17 and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and decreased abundance of the SCFAs butyric, valeric, and propionic acids [92,93].
