In a meta-analysis of 18 studies including 7057 AHF patients, higher serum Gal-3 was associated with higher risks of all-cause mortality (adjusted risk ratio [RR], 1.58; p < 0.001), mortality/HF rehospitalization (RR, 1.68; p < 0.001), and cardiovascular mortality (RR, 1.29; p = 0.04) but not HF rehospitalization (RR, 1.24; p = 0.25) [74]. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and hydrops fetalis.
