There are a number of other blood and urine markers of renal dysfunction that appear to be promising in both the diagnosis and prognosis of CKD, such as cystatin C, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), interleukin-18, kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), α-1 microglobulin and β-2 microglobulin, urine epidermal growth factor (EGF), and many others [12,13,14,15,16,17].
