MUC16 and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: Previous studies have confirmed that serum CA125 is a predictor of prognosis in various malignancies, including epithelial ovarian cancer,[7] cervical adenocarcinoma,[9] and endometrial carcinoma.[13] CA125 is a transmembrane mucin encoded by the mucin 16 (MUC16) gene.[14] CA125/MUC16 might also play an important role in the tumorigenesis and metastasis of pancreatic cancer[15] and ovarian tumors.[16] Hence, we assessed the relationship between pretreatment CA125 and the clinical outcomes of ICC patients after hepatic resection.
