In terms of morphotype-specific effects, GE-infected cell monolayers (CF: Figure 5G; CF+CFTR: Figure 5K) showed more pronounced loss of ZO-1 tight junction protein than CO infection (CF: Figure 4H; CF+CFTR: Figure 4K) suggesting the GE were more aggressive than CO for the disruption of ZO-1.
