During pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) pathogenesis, SIRT7 upregulates AKT in a JNK-dependent manner that, in turn, activates lipogenic enzymes ATP-citrate lyase and acetyl-CoA carboxylase, promotes lipid deposition, and remodels the pulmonary vasculature in favor of PAH (181). This evidence concerns the gene MAPK8 and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
